For more than three decades, Betko has mastered the sorting, packing, refrigeration and distribution processes of fresh apples and pears.

All our produce can be traced and linked to ensure that the fruit from the farms are safe and compliant with the latest food safety and legal standards.

SORTING

At Betko it’s not a matter of merely supplying within the limits of the fruit we have available, but rather fulfilling the specific needs and demands of our customers.

Our optical pre-sorter can sort roughly 350 tonnes of fruit per day, sorting each apple according to weight or size, colour and cosmetic quality specification.

PACKING

Betko operates a combination of traditional and state-of-the-art optical grading lines at our packing facilities, processing an average of 200 tonnes and a maximum of around 500 tonnes of fruit per day. We offer countless combinations of cultivar, size, grade and unique packaging types to ensure our customers have a wide selection of baskets to fill.

REFRIGERATION

Optimal storage conditions are crucial for ensuring high internal quality and freshness as well as meeting year-round consumer demand. We store our fruit on site in each of 72 controlled atmosphere (CA) refrigeration rooms with a capacity of 88 000 bulk bins.

Once the packaged fruit comes from each of our packing lines, we can force-cool 660 pallets in PPECB-accredited sterilisation cooling tunnels, and store up to 3000 pallets destined for dispatch in two rooms equipped with mobile racking.
